The Kachhigadh Lighthouse is a 30-meter cylindrical concrete tower built in 1983. Its exterior features horizontal red and white bands, and it is topped with a lantern and gallery. The lighthouse emits a white flash every 15 seconds, providing a geographic range of 16 nautical miles. Located in Rupen Bandar, Gujarat, it stands 34 meters above sea level. The site is accessible to the public, although entry into the tower is not permitted. It is situated about 10.7 kilometers from the nearest port of Beyt.
Why it matters: This lighthouse guides vessels approaching the southern entrance to the Gulf of Kachchh, a significant shipping lane, warning them of the headland and coastal features.
