It is mounted on a round concrete pier, rising directly from the water approximately 1 km east of the Fúzhōu Ring Expressway Bridge. The lighthouse emits a red light with two flashes every six seconds. Its geographic range extends to 8.9 nautical miles, marking the south side of the southern entrance to the Mǐnjiāng river. Access to the lighthouse is exclusively by boat due to its offshore location.
