About Jegri Island Lighthouse
Also known as: Jegri Island (Mahuva)
This masonry lighthouse, standing 30 meters tall, was constructed in 1960 and painted with horizontal black and white bands. It is situated on a high bluff at the southern point of Jegri Island, a small island off the coast of Mahuva, which is connected to the mainland by a bridge. The current cylindrical tower replaced an earlier light structure that was first established in 1871. The light emits a white flash every 20 seconds, visible for nearly 20 nautical miles. The site is open to the public, but the tower itself is closed to visitors.
Why it matters: The Jegri Island Lighthouse marks the island and aids vessels navigating the coastal waters near Mahuva.
