This cylindrical concrete tower, standing 14 meters tall, was originally painted with red and white horizontal bands. It guides vessels on a geographic range of 11 nautical miles with a white light, exhibiting two flashes every 16 seconds. Located on a sandy point on the west side of Isla de San José, the lighthouse directed ships to a salt works that is now abandoned. The tower's lantern has been removed and it is falling into ruin. The nearest port is San Juan de la Costa, 31.1 km away.
