Constructed in 1900, the Ilha São Jacinto lighthouse is a round stone tower standing 12 meters tall. It features a cylindrical stone structure topped with a round lantern room. This facility is located on São Jacinto Island, just off the southern side of Marmagao Bay in the North Goa District. While the site is open to visitors, the tower itself is closed. The lighthouse is situated approximately 3.5 kilometers from the nearest port of Marmugao.
Why it matters: This lighthouse formed part of an entrance range that guided vessels into Marmagao Bay, aiding safe passage in a busy shipping area.
