This concrete lighthouse was constructed in 1991 on a submerged reef off the southeastern coast of Jīntáng island. The hexagonal cylindrical tower stands 15 meters tall and is painted white. Its light emits a white flash every 6 seconds. The focal height of the light is 18 meters, providing a geographic range of 12.7 nautical miles. It is situated approximately 15 kilometers east of Zhènhǎi and 2.1 kilometers from the nearest port of Beilun. This structure warns mariners of the reef it occupies.
Why it matters: The lighthouse is critical for maritime safety, warning ships about the dangerous reef it occupies and guiding vessels navigating busy shipping routes east of Zhènhǎi.
