Hóulóngqíjiǎo Lighthouse, a 9-meter cylindrical concrete tower, was built and first lit in 2012. It is painted white and stands on the eastern tip of Niǎoyǔ, also known as Bird Island. This island lies about 13 kilometers northeast of Níngdé. The lighthouse emits a white light with a characteristic of one white flash every 6 seconds. Its focal height is also 9 meters, providing a geographic range of 10 nautical miles. This structure serves as a navigational aid on the eastern edge of the island.
Why it matters: This lighthouse marks the eastern tip of Niǎoyǔ (Bird Island), guiding vessels in the waters northeast of Níngdé and helping to prevent groundings on the island's shores.
