About Hsinchu Fishing Harbor Lighthouses Lighthouse
A cylindrical concrete tower, 8 meters high and painted red, stands on the south breakwater of Hsinchu Harbor. Its paint is peeling, revealing the effects of the marine environment. The breakwater has been extended, and a newer post light now marks its end. This post light displays a red flash every 4 seconds from a focal height of 14 meters, with a geographic range of 11.6 nautical miles. The site is open to the public, but the tower is closed.
Why it matters: This light is important for guiding fishing vessels into and out of Hsinchu Fishing Harbor, marking the south breakwater to prevent groundings.
