The Dàzhúshān Lighthouse was built in 1980 on a small island located approximately 30 kilometers northeast of Pénglái. This cylindrical concrete tower stands 10 meters tall and features black and white horizontal bands. Its light, visible for 34 nautical miles, emits a white flash every 8 seconds from a focal height of 204.5 meters. The lighthouse is attached to a single-story equipment building and is situated about 12.2 kilometers from the nearest port, Changdao. It is an active aid to navigation.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is a navigational aid for shipping traffic in the Yellow Sea, guiding vessels near Pénglái.
