About Dàsānpándǎo Lighthouse
Also known as: Dàsānpándǎo (Dàsānpán Dǎo, Tasanpang Shan)
A cylindrical concrete tower, standing 8 meters tall and painted with red and white horizontal bands, was constructed in 2003 on a small island in the Dòngtóu Channel. The lighthouse emits a white light with a characteristic of one white flash every 10 seconds from a focal height of 53 meters. This structure replaced an earlier pyramidal light that had been in place since at least 2016. The island location places it as one of the approaches to Wēnzhōu, with the nearest port being Zhuangyuanao, 2.2 kilometers away.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is indispensable for vessels traversing the Dòngtóu Channel, providing critical guidance through one of the primary maritime approaches to the significant port of Wēnzhōu. Its light helps ensure safe navigation for commercial shipping and local fishing fleets in these busy waters.
