About Dàlián Oil Pier # 2 Lighthouse
Also known as: #Dàlián Oil Pier # 2
This cylindrical concrete tower, painted white, was first lit in 1932. Standing 11 meters tall with a focal height of 36 meters, it offered a geographic range of 17 nautical miles. Its light emitted a quick red flash every 46 seconds. The lighthouse marked the end of the longer pier at the former Dàlián oil terminal, located on the northeastern edge of the city. The structure was removed in 2009, coinciding with the disappearance of the pier and terminal due to land reclamation.
Why it matters: The lighthouse was important for the safe navigation of oil tankers to the Dàlián oil terminal, a key facility for regional energy distribution.
