About Dana Lighthouse
Also known as: Dana (Ákra Ntána, Poros)
Built in 1870, the Dana Lighthouse is a 9-meter cylindrical stone tower with a lantern and gallery, rising from a 1-story keeper's house. It is located on the western tip of Poros island, at the southern end of the Saronic Gulf. For a time, its light was moved to a skeletal tower, but the original lighthouse was reactivated and resumed its duties between 2012 and 2013. The light emits a white or red flash every 4 seconds. The site is open to the public, though the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: The lighthouse is essential for navigating the narrow strait between Poros and the Peloponnese mainland, a critical passage for local maritime traffic.
