About Cáofēidiàn Lighthouse
Also known as: Cáofēidiàn (Shaleif'ien Tao)
Constructed in 1998, the Cáofēidiàn Lighthouse stands on the southern tip of Cáofēidiàn Island. This cylindrical concrete and fiberglass tower, measuring 21.5 meters in height, features dark green and white horizontal bands. It emits a single white flash every 12 seconds from a focal height of 24 meters, visible for 14.1 nautical miles. The current structure replaced earlier lights that were necessitated by the island's dynamic coastal environment and evolving maritime needs. A round concrete base supports the fiberglass tower, which includes a lantern and gallery.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is important for maritime safety in the Bohai Sea, guiding ships around the southern end of Cáofēidiàn Island, a developing industrial and port area.
