About Chéngzhōudǎo Lighthouse
Also known as: Chéngzhōudǎo (Chéngzhōu Dǎo, City Island)
This concrete lighthouse was built in 2006 on a promontory at the southern end of Chéngzhōudǎo, an island in the center of Zhào'ān Bay's entrance. The cylindrical tower stands 8 meters tall and is covered in tiles featuring black and white horizontal bands. Its light, with a focal height of 38 meters, emits a white flash every 4 seconds, visible for 16.7 nautical miles. The tower's construction material is concrete, and its nearest port is Chaozhou, located 9.5 kilometers away. The lighthouse is operational and serves the sea region of the Zhào'ān Bay entrance.
Why it matters: The light assists vessels entering and departing Zhào'ān Bay, helping to prevent groundings and ensure efficient navigation within this significant coastal waterway. Its distinct black and white bands provide a clear visual cue for approaching mariners.
