About Chita City Lighthouse Lighthouse
The Chita City Lighthouse, also known as the Ise Wan Signal Station, began operation in 1961. This cylindrical tower stands 20 meters tall and emits a white flash every 10 seconds. Its structure centers on a single-story harbor control station and features a lantern with a double gallery. Situated about 6 kilometers northwest of Tokoname, it lies within Ise Bay, approximately 3.5 kilometers from the port of Nagoya. Access to the station is restricted to boats.
Why it matters: The lighthouse guides vessels navigating Ise Bay, a significant Japanese shipping hub. Its original 4th order Fresnel lens is now displayed at the Nyudo Saki lighthouse museum.
