This concrete lighthouse, built in 1986, stands just south of Chavakkad in Kerala. The round cylindrical tower, painted with red and white horizontal bands, reaches a height of 30 meters. Its light is positioned 33 meters above sea level. The lighthouse emits a white flash every 20 seconds, visible for over 15 nautical miles. The structure features a lantern and a double gallery. It is located near the port of Ponnani, approximately 15 kilometers away.

Background
The Chetwai Lighthouse is situated at Chettuva near Guruvayur in Thrissur District of Kerala. It was inaugurated on 29 September 1986. The tower is a 30-meter tall concrete structure. There did not exist any lighthouse earlier to the present one at this place. The light source was changed on 30 April 2003.
