Cửa Đại Lighthouse

Cửa Đại Lighthouse, established in 2012, is a cylindrical metal tower standing 23 meters tall with black and white horizontal bands. It features a gallery and emits three white flashes followed by one white flash on a cycle. The focal height of the light is 25 meters, providing a geographic range of 14.3 nautical miles. Situated near the Thu Bồn River estuary, it is 17.2 kilometers from Da Nang, the nearest major port. The structure is surrounded by the estuary where the river meets the South China Sea.

Why it matters: This lighthouse aids navigation at the entrance to the Thu Bồn River estuary, a historically important route for trade and maritime activity. It helps vessels navigate the dynamic sandbars and currents at the river mouth.
