A 21-meter-high, square aluminum skeletal tower with a lantern and gallery was erected in 1988. Painted white, the metal structure has a focal plane of 90 meters. Its light produces a single white flash every 15 seconds, offering a geographic range of 23.8 nautical miles. It is located 1.4 kilometers from the port of Bintulu, Sarawak.
Why it matters: This navigation aid marks the entrance to Bintulu Port, a main hub for Sarawak's energy and industrial operations. It assists vessels carrying liquefied natural gas, petroleum, and other goods within the South China Sea.
