It is situated on a dangerous reef off the cape of Liántóu, locally known as Lotus Head, near Maoming City in China's Guangdong region. The lighthouse emits a white flash every four seconds. While the site is accessible by boat, the tower itself is closed to the public. Its geographic range extends to 12.4 nautical miles, guiding vessels away from the reef.
