It stands on an island at the entrance to the bay of Belekeri, marking this channel for navigation. The light emits a white flash every 10 seconds and has a geographic range of 20.9 nautical miles. The focal height of the light is 66 meters. Access to the island is by boat, with the nearest port located 1.5 kilometers away. In 2016, the Directorate General of Lighthouses and Lightships sought bids for lighthouse improvements.
