Also known as: Ashqelon
This multistage concrete tower, unpainted, stands 18 meters tall on the outer breakwater of Ashkelon. It emits a green flash every six seconds, marking the entrance to the port. The lighthouse is situated on a man-made extension of the coast designed to protect the harbor from wave action. It operates continuously as an active aid to navigation. The structure is located 0.9 kilometers from the main Ashkelon port.
Why it matters: The light supports the continuous flow of maritime trade and industry in the region by guiding vessels past the breakwater into the port of Ashkelon.
