About Angaur Lighthouse
A Japanese lighthouse was constructed in 1941 on Angaur, the southernmost island in the Palau archipelago. Operational records indicate its first lighting also occurred in 1941. The structure is no longer active. Photographs from 1984 and later show the lighthouse, with one image depicting its entrance and another the encroaching jungle. Additional images reveal the ruins of the keeper's house.
