About Zinnowitz Lighthouse
Built in 2006, the Zinnowitz Lighthouse stands as a square steel tower, 13 meters tall, marked with red and white horizontal bands. It carries a large, red, diamond-shaped, slatted daymark and emits a yellow flash every 4 seconds. This structure is located near the end of the pier in the resort town of Zinnowitz, about 15 kilometers southeast of Peenemünde along Germany's Baltic coast. The focal height of the light is 25 meters, providing a geographic range of 14.3 nautical miles. The site itself is open to the public, though the tower is closed.
Why it matters: The Zinnowitz light is essential for vessels navigating towards the pier in this resort area. Its proximity to the unique Tauchgondol diving bell also makes it a distinctive landmark combining maritime safety with tourism.
