About Wriakhörn Lighthouse
Also known as: Wriakhörn (?)
The Wriakhörn Lighthouse, a slender square skeletal tower built in 1955 from steel, stands 17 meters tall. It was first lit in the same year it was constructed. Located in the dunes 550 meters southwest of the Amrun lighthouse near Norddorf auf Amrum, its rusted appearance reflects its disuse. The lighthouse emitted two white flashes on a 15-second cycle, with a focal height of 26 meters, providing a geographic range of 14.5 nautical miles. This structure has been inactive since 2016 and is considered endangered, possibly removed.
Why it matters: While operational, it aided navigation along the German North Sea coast, likely assisting local traffic or marking specific hazards in conjunction with the Amrum light.
