About Woodman Point Lighthouse
Also known as: Gage Roads Lighthouse
Completed in 1902, Woodman Point Lighthouse stands 13 meters tall, with its light positioned 37 meters above sea level. Constructed from locally quarried limestone, the tower is situated inland on the highest point of land in the vicinity. Its operational life began in August 1902 and continues to the present day. The light emits a pattern of occluded white, red, and green, with a 30-second cycle. The lighthouse offers a geographic range of 4 nautical miles. Adjacent to the tower are two limestone keepers' cottages in the Federation Bungalow style.
Why it matters: Registered as a State Registered Place, this lighthouse guides vessels approaching Fremantle Harbour, benefiting from its inland location as a leading light with distinct red, white, and green sectors.
