About Albany Rock Lighthouse
This hexagonal tower, built of concrete, stands 30 meters tall and became operational in 2012. Its light emits a white, red, or green flash every 4 seconds, depending on the direction of observation. The tower's design is hexagonal, and its focal height reaches 30 meters above sea level. This modern structure replaced an earlier, unlit beacon.
Why it matters: The two white sectors of this light guide vessels through the narrow channel adjacent to the eastern side of Cape York.
