About Tévennec Lighthouse
Constructed from stone and first lit in 1875, Tévennec Lighthouse stands on a small island approximately 5 km northwest of the Pointe du Raz in Brittany. Its design features a 15-meter cylindrical stone tower, with its focal height at 28 meters, attached to a 1-story keeper's house. The lighthouse emits a white flash every 4 seconds, visible for nearly 15 nautical miles. In 2016, its then-president of SNPPB, Marc Pointud, spent 69 days within the structure to raise funds. More recently, in 2023, workers repaired and repainted the tower, improving its condition.
Why it matters: Tévennec Lighthouse aids coastal shipping navigating the challenging waters off the Pointe du Raz, a significant landmark on the western coast of France.
