About Torobulu Approach Southwest Lighthouse
Also known as: Turubulu
A red, square pyramidal skeletal tower, standing 12 meters tall, guides vessels approaching the Torobulu pier. Located approximately 500 meters south of the landing off Muna Island in Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia, it marks the port side of the approach channel. This structure has been an active aid to navigation, with photographic evidence confirming its presence in 2018. The lighthouse is accessible only by boat, reflecting its marine-bound setting. While visitors can observe the site from the water, the tower itself is closed to public entry.
Why it matters: This lighthouse provides a critical visual cue for vessels approaching the Torobulu pier, ensuring they maintain a safe course into the harbor. Its red flash every two seconds helps mariners identify the port side of the approach, preventing potential groundings or collisions in this active shipping lane.
