About Takeno Kō Lighthouse
Also known as: Takeno Kō (North Breakwater)
This 8.5-meter white concrete post lighthouse was built in 1965 and first lit the same year. It is situated at the end of the north breakwater of Takeno, a small port on the west side of the Neko Saki peninsula. The structure consists of the post attached to a square, single-story concrete equipment shelter. It emits a flashing green light every 5 seconds. The site is open to visitors, but the tower itself is closed. The nearest port is Tsuiyama, located 3.7 kilometers away.
Why it matters: Takeno Kō clearly marks the end of the main breakwater, which is essential for the safe navigation of vessels entering and departing the port of Takeno.
