About Southampton City Lightship and Lighthouses Lighthouse
This single-masted steel lightship, painted red, was built in 1914. It served as a navigational aid at the western entrance to Southampton Water from the Solent, marking Calshot Spit. Constructed from steel, the vessel stands 24 meters tall. The lightship was decommissioned in 1978. In November 2010, it was relocated to Berth 50, and in December 2019, it moved to the Solent Sky Museum where it is undergoing restoration.
