Shibushi Kō Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Shibushi Kō Lighthouse
This 10-meter cylindrical concrete tower, painted white, was built and first lit in 1930. It is centered on a single-story concrete equipment room and stands on a hexagonal concrete base. Located at the end of the west breakwater for the Shibushi small boat harbor, it guides vessels into Shibushi Bay. The lighthouse emits a single green flash every five seconds, visible for 10.7 nautical miles. The site is accessible to the public, though the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: The lighthouse is essential for guiding local fishing boats and other small craft safely into the traditional harbor of Shibushi and the sheltered waters of Shibushi Bay.
