Location & Light Range
About Saruyama Misaki Lighthouse
Commissioned in 1920, Saruyama Misaki Lighthouse is a 17-meter cylindrical concrete tower painted white. It stands 219 meters above sea level on Cape Saruyama, the point where the Noto Peninsula changes direction from north to northeast. The lighthouse features a lantern and gallery and is attached to a large, square, single-story keeper's house. Its white light emits four flashes every 20 seconds, visible for 35 nautical miles. The site is open to the public, though the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is essential for guiding vessels around Cape Saruyama, a significant geographical feature where the Noto Peninsula's coastline shifts direction.
