Location & Light Range
About Sanuki Misaki Lighthouse
A square concrete skeletal tower, 11 meters tall, was built in 1959 to serve as the Sanuki Misaki lighthouse. It features a gallery and rises from a 1-story concrete equipment room. The light emits a white flash every 8 seconds. This structure is located on the tip of a peninsula that extends northwest into the Inland Sea, forming the northeastern edge of Hiuchi Bay. The site is open to the public, though the tower itself is closed. The lighthouse is situated about 20 kilometers northwest of Zentsuji.
Why it matters: This lighthouse marks the Sanuki Misaki peninsula, an obstacle to navigation at the northeastern edge of Hiuchi Bay, guiding vessels through a busy shipping lane.
