Ryugasaki Hana Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Ryugasaki Hana Lighthouse
Ryugasaki Hana lighthouse is a 16-meter skeletal steel tower that consists of a lantern and gallery mounted atop a large steel tripod. It is situated in the surf near the modern entrance to Nakanosaku harbor, approximately 0.4 kilometers from the nearest port. The tower is painted white. Originally operational, the lighthouse was deactivated in December 2016. Its location in the surf meant that access was only possible by boat. The structure's unique form, emerging directly from the water, made it a recognizable feature of the Fukushima Prefecture coastline.
Why it matters: The lighthouse provided navigational guidance for vessels approaching Nakanosaku harbor. Its distinctive tripod design in the surf made it a unique architectural feature.
