About Punta Mandinga Lighthouse
The Punta Mandinga lighthouse is situated on the northeastern tip of Isla de Puná, Ecuador, within the Guayas region. The first light station was established here in 1873, serving mariners navigating the Gulf of Guayaquil. The current metal, cylindrical tower, built around 2010, stands 15 meters tall, with its light positioned at a focal height of 52 meters. It emits a white flash every eight seconds, visible for 19 nautical miles. Although the site is open to visitors, the tower is closed to the public.
Why it matters: This light is critical for safe passage into the Gulf of Guayaquil, marking the northeastern tip of Isla de Puná.
