About Pointe de Sebra Lighthouse
This cylindrical lighthouse, built in 1895, stands 15 meters tall on the north shore of Lake Bizerte. Its upper portion features black and white vertical stripes. The tower, a square cylindrical skeletal design with an enclosed upper section, has a focal height of 16 meters. It emits an isophase white light on a 6-second cycle, visible for 12.2 nautical miles. Although the original lantern has been removed, the structure remains operational. It is situated on a point of land precisely aligned with the channel of the Goulet.
Why it matters: The lighthouse is critical for guiding ships through the Goulet, the narrow canal connecting Bizerte harbor to Lake Bizerte, ensuring safe passage for maritime traffic.
