About Pointe de Porz-Don Lighthouse
Also known as: Pointe de Porz-Don (Paimpol)
Constructed in 1880, the Pointe de Porz-Don lighthouse is located on the north side of the Paimpol harbor entrance, about 1.5 kilometers southeast of Ploubazlanec in Brittany. The lighthouse is an 8-meter tall, round, stone keeper's house, painted black and red. The light, positioned 13 meters above sea level, is shown from an upstairs window. It flashes twice every 6 seconds, either red or white (Oc(2) R or W 6s). The white flash denotes the recommended passage from the east. Visitors can access the site, but the structure remains closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse, built into a keeper's house, offers a distinct design for coastal lighting. Its beam serves as a navigation aid for ships approaching the port of Paimpol.
