About Pointe de Morgat Lighthouse
Constructed of stone and first lit in 1914, the Pointe de Morgat lighthouse stands 15 meters tall. Its structure consists of a square cylindrical stone tower with a lantern and gallery, rising from the front of a one-story stone keeper's house. The tower is painted white with unpainted stone trim. Situated on the south side of the Crozon peninsula, it marks the southern entrance to the Anse de Morgat. The lighthouse emits four white, red, or green flashes on a 12-second cycle, visible for 22.3 nautical miles. The site is open to visitors, though the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is important for vessels entering the Anse de Morgat, offering directional guidance with its unique light characteristic. Its integrated design reflects a common architectural style for lighthouses in this region of Brittany.
