Location & Light Range
About Point Perpendicular Lighthouse
The white concrete tower at Point Perpendicular was first lit in 1899. Standing 21.4 meters tall, its focal plane reaches 95 meters above sea level, providing a geographic range of 15 nautical miles. The light emits a single white flash every 10 seconds. Its visibility is unobstructed between 231° and 028°, but it is partially obscured by the Cape St George and Beecroft Peninsula in other directions. The lighthouse is no longer operational, having been replaced by a skeletal tower in 1993.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is listed on the Commonwealth Heritage List and is believed to be the first in New South Wales constructed from precast concrete blocks.
