About Noshiro Kō Inner Breakwater Lighthouse
Also known as: Noshiro Kō Inner Breakwater (Yoneshiro Gawa)
This former lighthouse, located at the end of the south breakwater in Noshiro, Japan, was an 11-meter red concrete post. It was attached to a square, single-story concrete equipment room. The structure guided vessels into the port of Noshiro. Its light was green with an isophase characteristic. The lighthouse became inactive around 2022 and was subsequently removed.
Why it matters: This marker was essential for mariners entering and exiting the port of Noshiro, clearly delineating the end of the south breakwater and preventing collisions with the submerged structure.
