About Ōno Lighthouse
Also known as: Ōno (Kanazawa)
This concrete lighthouse, built in 1934, stands 26 meters tall with a focal height of 34 meters. Its white, cylindrical tower, topped with a lantern and gallery, rises from a one-story Coast Guard office building. The structure marks the south side of the harbor entrance for Ōno, Kanazawa's industrial and fishing port. A white light flashes every 10 seconds, visible for 16 nautical miles. The site is open to the public, though the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: The lighthouse is essential for safe navigation into Ōno, Kanazawa's busy port. It guides vessels past a bridge connecting to an island and into the harbor.
