About Mys Rosseta Lighthouse
Established in 1956, this lighthouse stands on a steep ridge on the western side of the Egersheld Peninsula. The white masonry structure, topped by a lantern, measures 13 meters tall. Its green light emits an occulting flash every 15 seconds from a focal height of 66 meters, providing a geographic range of 20.9 nautical miles. The cape itself honors Lieutenant Sergei Rosset, recognized for his 1880s surveys of the Amur estuary. This navigational aid was developed to mark a point for maritime traffic in the busy waters near Vladivostok.
Why it matters: The lighthouse serves to guide vessels around the Egersheld Peninsula and the approaches to Vladivostok.
