Constructed in 1949, Moso Se Lighthouse is a cylindrical concrete tower situated about 500 meters southeast of the Shimabara Breakwater Light. The structure measures 11 meters in height and is distinguished by its black exterior with a red horizontal band, and a broad, circular equipment housing. Its light is positioned at a focal height of 10 meters. The lamp produces a red light, flashing once every 8 seconds (Fl R 8s), with a visible distance of 10.4 nautical miles. Visitors can access the grounds, but the tower is not open to the public. This navigation marker is located close to Shimabara in Japan's Nagasaki Prefecture.
Why it matters: This lighthouse marks a submerged danger on a shoal, serving the Shimabara-Kumamoto ferry path.
