Mitare Misaki Lighthouse, established in 1958, is a 10-meter tall cylindrical concrete structure painted white. Its light source is positioned at 32 meters above sea level, producing a white flash that repeats every five seconds (Fl W 5s). The tower adjoins a small, single-level concrete building that houses equipment. The lighthouse is located near Setana in Hokkaido Prefecture, about 6.4 km from the nearest port. Access to the grounds is permitted, but entry into the tower is restricted.
Why it matters: This structure serves as a navigation aid for vessels approaching the coast near Setana, marking a landform southwest of Kitahiyama.
