About Men-Joliguet Lighthouse
Constructed in 1884, the Men-Joliguet lighthouse stands on a rock near the south side of an island, guiding vessels through the Chenal de Ferlas. The cylindrical stone tower, 8 meters high, is painted yellow with a black horizontal band. Its light emits two white, red, or green flashes every six seconds from a focal height of 10 meters. The lighthouse has a geographic range of 10.4 nautical miles. The site is open to the public, but the tower is closed.
Why it matters: Men-Joliguet is essential for safe passage through the Chenal de Ferlas, a busy maritime corridor where its directional flashes guide vessels away from unseen dangers.
