Location & Light Range
About Madaga Saki Lighthouse
A round, cylindrical concrete tower, the Madaga Saki Lighthouse was built in 1971. It stood 10 meters tall, rising from a single-story circular equipment room. The lighthouse was situated on a promontory on the north side of Kamaishi Bay, approximately 6 kilometers east of the city. Its purpose was to guide vessels navigating the coastal waters and entering the bay. The lighthouse's operational life concluded when it was decommissioned and subsequently demolished.
Why it matters: The lighthouse marked the north side of Kamaishi Bay, guiding local fishing boats and commercial vessels entering or leaving the port and helping prevent groundings.
