Littlehampton East Pier Range Rear Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Littlehampton East Pier Range Rear Lighthouse
A concrete cylindrical tower, 7 meters tall, stands at the end of Pier Road on the Littlehampton waterfront. Built in 1948, it replaced earlier structures that had guided ships since 1848. The present tower features four tapering buttresses supporting a lantern room. It is 9 meters above sea level and has a geographic range of 10 nautical miles. The light displays an occulting white and yellow signal on a 7.5-second cycle, guiding vessels through the channel to the south southeast.
Why it matters: Established as part of a range system in 1868, this light was rebuilt in 1948 after the original lights were demolished. Its distinct signal helps define the main passage into the Littlehampton channel.
