About La Croix Lighthouse
Also known as: La Croix (feu antérieur)
The La Croix Lighthouse, a white cylindrical stone tower standing 12 meters tall, was built and first lit in 1848. It rises from a small enclosure containing a 1-story equipment room and is topped by a lantern and gallery. Located on the Concarneau waterfront, it marks the entrance to the harbor from Baie de la Forêt. The light emits three white occulting flashes every 12 seconds, with a focal height of 14 meters and a geographic range of 11.6 nautical miles. The site is open to the public, but the tower is closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse serves as the front marker for a navigational range, aligning with a rear light on the Beuzec-Conq church spire to guide vessels into Concarneau harbor.
