About Kyōden Kō Lighthouse
Constructed in 1960, Kyōden Kō is a 10-meter white concrete post lighthouse situated at the end of a breakwater. It guides vessels into the small boat harbor on the north side of Uozu. The structure consists of the post attached to a square, single-story concrete equipment shelter, with the entire lighthouse painted white. The light emits a green flash every 7 seconds from a focal height of 13 meters. Its geographic range extends to 11.3 nautical miles. The site is open to the public, though the tower itself remains closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is essential for the safe entry and exit of local fishing boats and recreational vessels into Uozu's small boat harbor, marking the breakwater's end.
