About Kerbel Feu Postérieur Lighthouse
Also known as: Kerbel Feu Postérieur (Phare de Poulfanc)
Completed in 1857, the Kerbel Feu Postérieur is a 15-meter-tall square tower constructed of gray stone. Its lantern room and gallery are also made of stone, and the light was historically shown through a small square opening. Situated just off the Route de la Croizetière near Riantec, this structure served as a rear range light. It was deactivated in 1913 and replaced by a new tower that same year. The lighthouse is endangered by a lack of maintenance.
Why it matters: Its replacement in 1913 reflects the evolving standards for maritime safety.
